Sriwhana Spong, Costume for a Mourner, choreographed and danced by Benjamin Ord, HD video, 2010
Costume for a Mourner re-imagines fragments from the lost ballet Le Chant de Rossignol, originally choreographed by Léonide Massine for the Ballets Russes in 1920. Moving across heightened moments of collapse and resurrection, the choreography draws on the direct experience of inhabiting the re-constructed costume designed by Matisse, to evoke the intersecting temporal realms of presentness and loss, history and futurity.
